Gift guide for the game lover

Welcome to the gift guide for the game lover. This is a perfect list if you’re shopping for someone who loves playing games, board games or card games. We are a “game playing” family and know what some of our go-to games are. I hope this list helps you find the perfect gift for someone young or old.

#1 Monopoly Deal

Bear with me on this one… I know there are 2 types of people, those who loves Monopoly and those who hate it. Monopoly Deal is the card version game of monopoly that everyone will love! I am one of those who hates regular Monopoly, mainly due to HOW LONG it take. Monopoly Deal is a quick version of the game. Often takes 15 minutes or less to play. There is some luck, some strategy involved. We play this game VERY often at our house, and I strongly recommend you give it a try. Plus, as a gift, it is quite inexpensive. Depending on where you buy it, it is usually less than $10.

#2 Battleship

Some classics don’t get old… Which you are going to find plenty of classics on this list, because we love them and they are regularly played on our home. If you’re game player doesn’t have Battleship, then you better get on that. We all enjoy the game, but I would say my boy likes it the most.

#3 Sequence

I grew up playing Sequence. We played at my home and with my grandparents often, while growing up. Now, my kids love playing it too. It is an easy game to understand and learn and it is really great for all ages. So if you have a game player who is a little older, this is a great idea for them.

I have to add in Sequence for Kids while I’m at it. If you are gifting someone younger, this isa good option for them… Recommended ages are 3-6

#4 Bananagrams!

We all love this fast-paced game of Bananagrams. This is another game that we have had in our house for years and it is still played. If you’re shopping for someone who loves word games, this is an excellent option!

#5 Catan

For the game players who like a little strategy to their games… Catan is the option for them. This game of strategy is a fun game for the whole family. Especially if you have an older kid or adult who like games.

# 6 Risk

Another classic… And I have to be honest, I have never been into Risk. So why is it on my list, you ask? Because I have too many family and friends that LOVE this game. I actually have friends that used to have get togethers to play the game. Just because I have never liked it, doesn’t mean it isn’t a great gift for some people. This is another game of strategy that I would gift to someone on the older side (pre-teen and up).

#7 Phase 10

Our two go-to card games are Monopoly Go and Phase 10. This one takes a little longer, but when we are having family game night, you can expect us to roll out Phase 10. It is an easy one to learn and it is fairly inexpensive. This would make a great gift for anyone 8 years and older.

#8 Yahtzee and Yahtzee Jr.

Another classic. Another game we play frequently. If we go on any type of road trip, Yahtzee is brought along! This make the time on the road go so much quicker and we have fun playing. Here I will post the regular Yahtzee and Yahtzee Jr. The junior version is better if you’re gifting someone who is a little younger in age.

#9 True Colors

I think True Colors is a less “known” game so if you’re looking to gift someone who has a lot of games, this might be one they don’t have! I have been playing True Colors since I was younger. It is such a FUN PARTY game, especially when you know the group you’re playing with well! We have played this with siblings, friend groups, family. A great way to learn what your friends and family really think of you!

#10 What’s Yours Like?

This has been a fun party game for us. We have shared many laughs over What’s Yours Like? I would say this is another less-known game so a great option for someone who has a lot of games. I would gift this to someone who is a little older (like 12+). It definitely makes a fun gift for an adult as well.

I hope you are able to find the perfect gift for your game player with this list… Or maybe you just found the next game night go-to!
